TOSA: The gold standard for Excel certification

The TOSA is an internationally recognized certificate. It certifies the mastery of Excel skills. This certification is intended for all individuals who wish to attest to the level of their professional computer knowledge.

For businesses, this certification is the reference. It is used by more than 7000 schools and businesses. Over 100 companies (Microsoft, Deloitte, and major law firms) use it in their recruitment process.

This certification is carried out under examination conditions in an authorized passage center. It lasts 45 minutes on average. Its score can be checked online.

What about the TOSA score?

The TOSA score is between 1 and 1000. This score reflects the employee's level of proficiency with the software on which you decided to evaluate your team. This is the Excel software here.

  • 1 to 350: rookie
  • 351 to 550: Basic
  • 551 to 725: operational
  • 726 to 875: advanced
  • Finally, 876 to 1000: expert.

What skills are being assessed?

The skills assessed vary from one level to another.

Level 1

TOSA level 1 refers to the beginner level with a score between 1 and 350. It includes the assessment of skills that include:

  • How to get acquainted with a document
  • How to keep a document
  • How to enter basic formulas
  • How to represent data using graphs
  • How to sort and filter data in a table

Level 2

The TOSA level 2 corresponds to the basic level which has a score between 351 and 550. At this level, the following are evaluated:

  • How to edit a workbook
  • How to change the Excel environment
  • How to integrate logical and arithmetic functions into formulas
  • How to choose and implement a style that suits each data using Excel formatting.
  • How to make simple graphs to put a series of valuable data.

Level 3

It corresponds to the operational level whose score is between 551 and 725. At this level, the following elements are evaluated:

  • How to use special paste features
  • How to use advanced recording and printing features when large data is needed
  • How to make long formulas
  • How to create a data table with charts and its layout.
  • How to use the various types of filters to search for data.

Level 5

TOSA level 5 is nothing but the advanced level (726 and 875). The points assessed here are:

  • How to manage the “file” tab
  • How to manage the history of recent documents
  • How to achieve the fluidity of file and data management by automating certain tasks.
  • How to access more complicated functions by shortening the spreadsheet's library of advanced functions
  • How to systematize page layout using automatic and conditional formatting
  • How to create and format various charts
  • How to generate dynamic crosstabs

TOSA level 4

This last level refers to the expert level. Its score is between 876 and 1000. At this level, the way to use the most advanced functions to set up the Excel environment is evaluated. The following are also evaluated:

  • How the protection and review functions are used to import, modify, and export data
  • How to present data as an outline
  • Etc.

TOSA certification is of paramount importance in the professional world. It proves that whoever holds this certificate masters computer tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. By properly assessing the level of your teams you will be in a better position to know if it is necessary to train them and you will be able to do it more effectively.
