Have you ever wanted to split information in one column into two different columns?

This can be very useful in some cases!

Do you have a column that contains someone's email address paragraph? Divide it into 2 columns and you now have the company name on a new line. 💪

Do you have the full name of a customer? Divide it in half and you now have his name & surname 💪

With Excel, it's possible.

Divide a column into multiple columns in Excel in 5 steps

1) Select the column you want to split.

2) Go to the tab Data and select”Convert“.

3) Choose between “Delimited” and “Fixed Width.”

Delimited: means you want to divide the column based on a character like a comma, spaces, or an @.

Fixed Width: means you're going to select the exact location where you want the division to happen.

For example, to separate a name and a first name, you must choose”Delimited“and choose The space suchlike delimiter.

In the example below, let's select “Delimited” to separate the full name into first and last name.

4) You can see a preview of the result, if you like it, validated by pressing following

5) You can choose the data format if you want, if you don't need it, just click on”Finish

It's over!

Your data has been successfully divided into several columns 💪

The limits of this technique
