Most organizations deploying AI tools today have the same conversation with their leadership teams every quarter. The tools are in place. The licenses are paid. And when someone asks what the return actually looks like, the room goes quiet.

To measure them seriously, you need a different methodology. One that is task-specific, use-case-driven, and anchored in time rather than perception.

Decomposing the Four Hours: What Actually Generates the Gain

Four hours per week is not a uniform outcome. It is the aggregate of several categories of use cases, each with a different time profile.

The first category is text generation and editing. Drafting emails, summarizing documents, writing first versions of reports or presentations. For knowledge workers, these tasks represent a significant share of the working day, and they are among the areas where AI assistance produces the most immediate time reduction.
